Ms. Mogensen is a NJ native who had never heard of the Eastern Shore of MD prior to moving here. Her family still resides in Central NJ with their pet rabbit, Pepper. Ms. Mogensen was activie in sports and musical activiiested in high school including Marching Band, Orchestra Pit, Concert Band, softball, and Varsity Volleyball. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from York College of Pennsylvania and started her teaching career as a middle school Band Director in Pequannock Township, New Jersey. While in Pequannock, she instructed the 6 & 7th grade Concert Bands, led the 5th Grade Band at North Boulevard Elementary, instructed on the Pequannock Township High School Marching Band staff, and supervised the Pequannock Township High School Winter Guard program.
Since 2015, Ms. Mogensen has dedicated her weekends to marching or instructing the Hawthorne Caballeros Drum & Bugle Corps and Naval Academy Drum & Bugle Corps. Between rehearsals, she earned her Master of Music in Wind Conducting degree from Messiah College (now University).
Ms. Mogensen instructs Piano Musicianship, Music Appreciation, AP Music Theory, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Pit Orchestra, and the Marching Band. She always looks forward to connecting with parents, students, and the community through performances and activities throughout the school year. Although this year will begin virtually, she is just as excited to make music together.
Outside of Kent Island HS, Ms. Mogensen travels to see family and friends; even all the way to Japan! She resides on Kent Island with her boyfriend and their two cats, Tiger Lily and Socrates.
